Murs Alison is a social media influencer who actively posts lifestyle and fashion content on YouTube, Instagram and Tik Tok. Murs content is intentional as each post is curated to entertain his audience and brighten their day. He also likes to lead by example and show his followers that they can truly be their authentic selves.

With all the negativity, the trolling, and fake lifestyles posted on social media, Murs wants his audience to know: “Styles or trends come and go, but what’s truly meant for us will always be there.” As we got to speak to and know Murs, he has tons of valuable insights that you can also find within his content.

Turning A Side Hustle into A Career

After graduating from college, Murs was just your ordinary intern looking for full-time work. With time on his hands as he was facing unemployment, he began posting his graphic design work on Instagram. His work was quickly noticed, and he began creating content for Fanta, Uniqlo, and H&M. Murs says, “It started as a side hustle that I never thought would be sustainable enough to turn into a full-time business.” Rather than giving into this thought process, he spent hours educating himself and researching how to run a full-time business until it became a reality. Thanks to his hard work, he’s now a full-time social media influencer.

Expanding His Brand through Clothing

Now that Murs has grown a substantial following on social media, he’s heavily focused on his clothing label, Murs & Co. He has plans to get his clothing stocked in stores like Urban Outfitters, Bloomingdales, and Verishop. He says, “I love working with brands, but eventually I want to turn those brand deals into collaborations with my clothing label.” Not only are Murs’ products top of the line, but he also keeps in touch with his customers personally via DM, so they feel connected and in the loop. To keep customers happy during shipping delays and build relationships with customers, he will send them personal notes with a free accessory in their order.

Advice He’d Give to Rising Influencers

When it comes to social media, Murs urges rising influencers to expand their reach across multiple channels. He says, “It may seem like TikTok or Instagram are the “it” platforms, but that doesn’t mean they will be forever.” He admits that it can be exhausting to grow a brand on multiple social media platforms, but it’s well worth it in terms of benefits. Anything that we do should be intentional as we want to reach as many people as possible. Therefore, rather than worrying about one platform fading into irrelevance, Murs has created security with diversified income from several different channels.
