When Deion Sanders was introduced at Colorado, Rick George was beaming with joy and excitement. This was different for the long-serving CU athletic director, who has always been easy to read and displays his feelings openly. George had discovered his “diamond in the rough,” and you could tell that he was eager to get Coach Prime cooking at Colorado.
Sanders’ hiring was rejected by many schools, including Florida State. Prime’s previous organization was “blown away” by him in the screening, yet chose to go another chief since they considered it wouldn’t be a solid match with the graduated class base and he didn’t have a degree, as per a report by The Athletic.
Regardless, George made Sanders the centerpiece of CU Football and wasn’t here for the nonsense, which has touched Sanders’ heart. George was the first person Coach Prime thanked following the significant victory at TCU. Because George took a chance and saw Sanders for who he was as a coach when others wouldn’t give him the time of day, the two have a lot of respect for one another.
Sanders was always going to be this successful, according to George. On Thursday, he discussed in detail with The Jim Rome Show how everything has turned out as he anticipated. In addition, George responded with an all-out swagger.
“Deion has discussed winning and winning right now. “He has emphasized that,” George stated to Rome. The fact that we are having these discussions does not surprise me. The fact that we had 7.3 million viewers on the broadcast, the most ever for Big Noon’s first week, indicates that Coach Prime is very much in demand.”
Colorado is featured on FOX’s College Football Game of the Week for yet another week. A “Red Letter” contention game with Nebraska with the opening shot booked around early afternoon ET from Folsom Field.
