South Asian celebrity list for 2023 in the UK is headed by Shah Rukh Khan

The “King Khan” of Indian cinema, Shah Rukh Khan, is a Bollywood superstar who has topped a UK list of the “Top 50 Asian Celebrities in the World.”

With the box office successes of action thrillers “Pathaan” and “Jawan” this year, the 58-year-old actor is currently gearing up for the Christmas release of comedy drama “Dunki”. Khan made it onto the annual list released on Friday by UK weekly Eastern Eye, despite facing stiff competition.

The list was put together by Eastern Eye entertainment editor Asjad Nazir, who previewed it in London on Wednesday. “By the time 2023 ends, King Khan will become the first leading man from the modern era to have three huge Bollywood blockbuster hits in a calendar year,” Nazir said.

The actor had a transformational impact and provided much-needed support to a film industry that was in decline by luring large audiences back into theaters with international blockbusters. He said, “The history-making superstar showed the world what escapist Bollywood cinema can do by outshining everyone else with his brilliance.”

Based on their significant contributions, breaking through barriers, and all-around inspirational performance throughout the year, the Top 50 list honors South Asian celebrities who shone the brightest in 2023. Readers and users of social media platforms nominate their favorites, and this results in its compilation.

Strong role model for working mothers, Alia Bhatt, is a well-known actor who came in second due to her influence in Hollywood and Bollywood.

The world-famous Indian, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who came in third, has received recognition for her groundbreaking work on the international scene. Her credits include humanitarian work, big-budget television series “Citadel,” Hollywood film “Love Again,” and lighting up the red carpet everywhere.
