World Music Day 2024: Enjoy Heeramandi, Bandish Bandits, Aaj Rang Hai, and More Melodious Treats

Music has long been an essential component of culture, and it is used extensively in theater and film to improve narrative. “We provide a selection of tales that honor music as a major subject and a dynamic force in honor of World Music Day.”

The musical “Bandish Bandits,” which is available on Amazon Prime Video, was composed by Amritpal Singh Bindra and Anand Tiwari. Ritwik Bhowmik plays a Hindustani classical musician who falls in love with pop singer Tamanna Sharma (Shreya Chaudhary) in the film. A combination of tradition and modernity is ignited by their contact. Naseeruddin Shah, Sheeba Chaddha, and Atul Kulkarni are also featured in the series. The soundtrack was composed by Shankar, Ehsaan, and Loy.

Heeramandi: The Marketplace of Diamonds

With captivating music that consistently hits the top of the charts, this Netflix series directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a hit. Traditional lyrics by Amir Khusrau are blended with classical music in songs like “Sakal Ban,” “Nazariya ki Maari,” “Saiyaan Hatto Jaao,” and “Chaudhavi Shab.” In the song picturisations, Bhansali’s love of extravagance is evident.

A musical version of Shakespeare’s comedy “Twelfth Night” is called “Piya Behrupiya.” This Zee Theatre presentation retells the stories of Cesario, Olivia, Viola, and Duke Orsino using folk fusion music. Geetanjali Kulkarni, Amitosh Nagpal, Sagar Deshmukh, Mansi Multani, Mantra Mugdh, Gagan Riar, Neha Saraf, Trupti Khamkar, and Saurabh Nayar star in the Atul Kumar-directed film. Aaj Rang Hai

Beni Bai, a former baithak vocalist who uses music to impart wisdom, is the focus of this Zee Theatre teleplay. The narrative, which is set in a community impacted by communalism, honors the diversity of humanity. It features Trishla Patel, Sarika Singh, Prerna Chawla, Pritika Chawla, Purva Naresh, Pawan Uttam, Imran Rasheed, Sukant Goel, Nishi Doshi, and Rajshree Deshpande. It was directed by Sourabh Shrivastava and written by Purva Naresh. On June 21, watch it on Airtel Spotlight, Dish TV Rangmanch Active, and D2H Rangmanch Active.

“Ladies Sangeet,” a musical that Purva Naresh and Suman Mukhopadhyay directed, examines the conflict between tradition and modernity. The story tackles patriarchy and gender identity with wit and wisdom, set against the backdrop of Radha’s wedding preparations at her family home. Joy Sengupta, Nidhi Singh, Siddhant Karnick, Loveleen Mishra, Harsh Khurana, Sarika Singh, Monica Gupta, Niranjan Iyengar, Mallika Singh, and Nivedita Bhargava are among the actors who star in the teleplay.
