Kevin Costner’s newest Western epic drama, Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1 Max, will be available on streaming services starting in early 2019. This was confirmed by Warner Bros. This takes place more than a month after the movie’s theatrical debut.

“In the great tradition of Warner Bros. Pictures’ iconic Westerns, Horizon: An American Saga explores the lure of the Old West and how it was won—and lost—through the blood, sweat and tears of many,” reads the synopsis. “Spanning the four years of the Civil War, from 1861 to 1865, Costner’s ambitious cinematic adventure will take audiences on an emotional journey across a country at war with itself, experienced through the lens of families, friends, and foes all attempting to discover what it truly means to be the United States of America.”

When is the Horizon Chapter 1 Max Release Date?

The first chapter of Horizon: An American Saga will be available for streaming only on Max on Friday, August 23. After making its global premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2024, critics have given the movie mixed reviews. With over 2,500 verifiable ratings, it currently has an Audience score of 70% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Directed by Costner, who co-wrote the screenplay with Jon Baird, is the first installment. Starring in the movie are Costner, Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Giovanni Ribisi, Abbey Lee, Will Patton, Jena Malone, Michael Rooker, Danny Huston, Luke Wilson, Ella Hunt, David O’Hara, Owen Crow Shoe, Tatanka Means, Tim Guinee, Scott Haze, Tom Payne, Alejandro Edda, James Russo, Jon Beavers, Jaime Campbell Bower, Michael Anganaro, and more.

Costner, Howard Kaplan, and Mark Gillard produce Horizon, with executive production from Danny Peykoff, Robert Scannell, Armyan Bernstein, Charlie Lyons, Barry Berg, and Rod Lake. There will be two more chapters after Chapter 1, the first of which is anticipated to make its premiere at the 81st Venice International Film Festival.
