A date has been set for the release of the upcoming horror film Drop. Christopher Landon, renowned for films like Freaky and the horror-comedy Happy Death Day, is the director of the horror film Drop. Drop’s creative team consists of director Landon, screenwriters Christopher Roach and Jillian Jacobs, and producers Jason Blum and Michael Bay. Meghann Fahy, Brandon Sklenar, Violett Beane, Ed Weeks, Travis Nelson, Jeffrey Self, Gabrielle Ryan, and Fiona Browne are among the members of Drop’s core cast.

Drop has officially disclosed its release date and other important details, according to Collider. April 11, 2025 is when Drop opens in theatres. Blumhouse also unveiled the movie’s initial poster and synopsis. According to the synopsis, Fahy portrays “Violet, a widowed mother on her first date in years, who arrives at an upscale restaurant where she is relieved that her date, Henry is more charming and handsome than she expected.” This initial dating success falters when Violet is “terrorized by a series of anonymous drops to her phone.”

What Drop’s Release Means For Blumhouse’s 2025 Slate

Blumhouse Will Have A Lot Of Momentum Next Year

An intriguing notion for the Fahy-led horror movie is established in the initial details of Drop. The plot summarises the film as having extremely high stakes for Violet because she is just beginning to have a relationship with Henry and there is a “unseen tormentor” who wants to kill him. There are still many unanswered questions regarding Drop.

When Drop is released in 2025, Blumhouse will have a very busy year. Wolf Man, which is scheduled for release on January 17, 2025, is the horror studio’s first release of 2025. The Woman in the Yard was released in March. Drop is scheduled for release in April 2025, which places it between this movie and the eagerly awaited Blumhouse sequel M3GAN 2.0. Drop’s release, if successful, will be essential to maintaining the Blumhouse momentum.

2025 Could Be Blumhouse’s Best Year In A While

Familiar Blumhouse Directors Will Return

The idea that several important Blumhouse filmmakers will be returning is what most excites me about this slate. Landon from Drop, who has previously collaborated with the distributor, is among those making a comeback to Blumhouse. Leigh Whannell, who previously directed the 2020 reimagining of The Invisible Man, is the director of Wolf Man, for example. Scott Derrickson will also return in the planned sequel, The Black Phone 2.
