Roofman, directed by Derek Cianfrance, has a set release date.

Cianfrance is the director of the new crime film Roofman. Starring in it are Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), Kirsten Dunst (Civil War), and Channing Tatum (Blink Twice).

When is the release date for Roofman?

On October 3, 2025, Roofman will be released by Paramount and Miramax in theatres across the United States.

Based on a true story, Roofman is “about a former Army Ranger and struggling father who turns to robbing McDonald’s restaurants by cutting holes in their roofs, earning him the nickname ‘Roofman.’ After escaping from prison, he starts a new life while hiding in a toy store, falling in love with a single mother and her two daughters. However, his criminal past and a final robbery threaten to destroy his chance at redemption.”

Cianfrance and Kirk Gunn wrote the script for Roofman. The film is produced by Jamie Patricof, Duncan Montgomery, and Lynette Howell Taylor.

Together with Jonathan Montepare, Becky Sloviter, Thom Zadra, Charles Barsamian, Chris Parker of Limelight, Jonathan Glickman of Miramax, and Jack Selby, Sam Romano, and Rick Covert of High Frequency, Tatum and Cianfrance are executive producers.

In 1998, Cianfrance directed his first feature picture, Brother Tied, which he also authored. Blue Valentine (2010), which starred Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams, was his second feature film. He then rejoined Gosling for the 2012 film The Place Beyond the Pines, which also stars Mahershala Ali, Bradley Cooper, Eva Mendes, Dane DeHaan, and Rose Byrne.

After that, Cianfrance directed his most recent movie, The Light Between the Oceans (2016), which starred Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender. However, he worked on the story and served as executive producer for 2020’s Sound of Metal, starring Riz Ahmed, which was nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the 93rd Academy Awards.
