The trailer for the upcoming romantic comedy Young Werther, which stars Alison Pill as Charlotte (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) and Douglas Booth as the title character, was released by Lionsgate. Johann Wolfgang Goethe’s tragic romance novel The Sorrows of Young Wether, published in 1774, served as the inspiration for the movie.
When is the Young Werther Release Date?
Young Werther will now launch on December 13 in theatres and online after having its international premiere at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival. In addition, there are Jaouhar Ben Ayed (No Man’s Land) as Paul, Amrit Kaur (The Sex Lives of College Girls) as Melanie, Patrick J. Adams (Suits) as Albert, and Iris Apatow (This is 40) as Sissy.
“While on a simple errand to Toronto, a carefree and charming young writer named Werther stumbles across the love of his life only to discover that the young woman is engaged,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “Despite the urgings of his hypochondriac best friend, Werther turns his world upside down in a desperate, misguided and hilarious quest to win her heart.”
José Avelino Gilles Corbett Lourenço is the film’s writer and director. Booth, together with Jonathan Bross, Andy Wang, Dave Mepham, Matthew E. Chausse, Mason Novick, Joe Simpson, and Simon Williams, is the cast’s lead and executive producer. Natalie Urquhart, Julie Strifler, and Matt Code are its producers.
