The Amateur Trailer Features Rami Malek in an Exciting Revenge Story

The first trailer for the upcoming espionage thriller, The Amateur, which stars Rami Malek, Laurence Fishburne, and other actors, was published by 20th Century Studios.

What happens in The Amateur Trailer?

Charlie Heller (Malek), a gifted but reserved CIA decoder whose wife is killed, is the protagonist of the teaser. Heller takes matters into his own hands and using his special set of abilities to find her killers after his superiors deny him the chance to pursue them.

On April 11, 2025, The Amateur is scheduled to open in theatres around the country.

In addition to Malek, The Amateur boasts an all-star ensemble cast that includes Michael Stuhlbarg, Holt McCallany, Laurence Fishburne, Rachel Brosnahan, Caitríona Balfe, Adrian Martinez, Danny Sapani, and Julianne Nicholson.

“Charlie Heller (Malek) is a brilliant, but deeply introverted decoder for the CIA working out of a basement office at headquarters in Langley whose life is turned upside down when his wife is killed in a London terrorist attack,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “When his supervisors refuse to take action, he takes matters into his own hands, embarking on a dangerous trek across the globe to track down those responsible, his intelligence serving as the ultimate weapon for eluding his pursuers and achieving his revenge.”

Ken Nolan and Gary Spinelli co-wrote the screenplay for The Amateur, which James Hawes is directing. Robert Littell’s 1981 novel of the same name served as the inspiration for the movie. Joel B. Michaels, Dan Wilson, Malek, and Hutch Parker are the film’s producers; JJ Hook serves as an executive producer.
