A24 has revealed the Y2K digital release date for its latest disaster comedy, which follows a group of high school students as they struggle to survive after an unexpected technological revolt interrupts their house party. The film starring Rachel Zegler was released in theatres almost two weeks ago.
“It’s New Year’s Eve 1999. Two high school nobodies decide to crash the last big party before the new millennium. When the clock strikes midnight, the night gets more insane than they ever could have imagined,” reads the synopsis.
When is the Y2K digital Release Date?
On December 24, 2024, Y2K will be made available for purchase or rental on digital platforms. Critics have given the movie varying reviews since it debuted in theatres. Based on 89 reviews, it currently has a 45% Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Lachlan Watson (Chucky), Mason Gooding (Scream VI), Tim Heidecker (Us), Eduardo Franco (Booksmart, Stranger Things), Miles Robbins (Blockers), Fred Hechinger (Fear Street, The White Lotus), Daniel Zolghadri (Funny Pages), Jaeden Martell (It movies), Julian Dennison (Deadpool 2), Alicia Silverstone (Clueless), and rapper The Kid Laroi are among the ensemble cast in addition to Zegler.
Kyle Mooney and Evan Winter, both former cast members of Saturday Night Live, wrote and directed the movie. Jonah Hill, who has agreed to produce the project under his Strong Baby banner, was the source. This was Hill’s most recent project with A24; the two had previously collaborated on his feature directorial debut in the mid-1990s. Winter, Ali Goodwin, Chris Storer (The Bear), and Matt Dines also produced it.
