Following a short winter vacation, a new episode of the police procedural “S.W.A.T.” will air this week.

Having been cancelled after Season 6, picked up for a limited run of episodes for Season 7, and then given the go-ahead for a full 22-episode run for the current season, which debuted on October 18, the action-drama has had a wild ride to get to Season 8.

The first half of Season 8 managed to give viewers an exciting lineup of episodes, with Dec. 13’s Episode 8 ending on a cliffhanger in which several members of the core “S.W.A.T.” team were in dire straights. In contrast, Season 7 wrapped up a lot of loose ends because the writers thought it would be their last.

The show returns this week with Episode 9 following a break.
