Jennie Kim, a member of the globally renowned K-pop group BLACKPINK, is set to receive yet another significant accolade. Her achievements are particularly remarkable because she is one of the few female K-pop artists acknowledged at this year’s program, along with TWICE and NJZ (formerly NewJeans). The smash track “Mantra,” from Jennie’s debut solo album, Ruby, which was released in October 2024, has generated a lot of buzz in the past year. The song quickly became a global hit, solidifying her name in the international music arena.
Jennie Achieved the title of Global Force of the Year
At the 2025 Billboard Women in Music Awards, Jennie will receive the Global Force Award in recognition of her breakthrough solo career. For her “exploding global influence as she embarks on a solo career,” “the incomparable Jennie” will get this honour. The accolade is particularly noteworthy since, after bands like TWICE and NewJeans (now NJZ), this is the first time a Korean soloist would receive recognition at the ceremony. A few days after her solo album Ruby was released on March 7, she will receive the award.
That track “Mantra,” released in October 2024, became a huge smash and set several records. The song became the highest-charting single by a Korean female soloist on the UK Singles Chart in addition to landing slots on the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200. In 2024, it also became the highest-peaking single by an Asian female artist on the US iTunes charts.

Group of the Year goes to Aespa
This year’s Billboard Women in Music Awards will also celebrate aespa, a new K-pop group, in addition to BLACKPINK’s Jennie. At the ceremony, the girl group—which consists of Karina, Winter, Giselle, and Ningning—will receive the Group of the Year honour.
Released in May 2024, the group’s first studio album, Armageddon: The 1st Album, immediately became a financial success, enhancing their visibility globally. When they worked with Canadian artist Grimes to remix their hit song Supernova, their fame soared.
“The 2025 Billboard Women in Music celebrates the incredible women who continue to drive innovation, inspire change, and reshape the future of music,” explained Dana Droppo, Chief Brand Officer of Billboard, underscoring the significance of honouring women in the music industry.
The four-piece ensemble, which was formed under SM Entertainment, has enthralled the public with their strong performances and innovative ideas. Armageddon, their debut studio album, was released and quickly became a hit. When Aespa worked with Canadian singer-songwriter Grimes on the remix of their hit song Supernova, their fame skyrocketed.
