Kendrick Lamar’s Movie is Postponed by Paramount Until March 2026

Kendrick Lamar’s eagerly awaited untitled comedy, which he co-wrote with Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the masterminds of South Park, has been formally delayed.

Theater Release Date

The Paramount Pictures comedy, which was originally slated for July 4 of this year, will instead be released in theaters on March 20, 2026. The announcement follows last year’s CinemaCon teaser for the film, which Paramount will reveal later this week.

Lamar’s Grand National stadium tour, which begins in Minnesota on April 19 and ends in Sweden on August 19, will keep him away for a large portion of the spring and summer. The untitled movie will now debut on the same day as Liongate’s faith-based sequel, “I Can Only Imagine,” starring Dennis Quaid.

Studios Reshuffle Schedules Ahead of CinemaCon 2025

Ahead of CinemaCon, the annual gathering of movie theater owners taking place in Las Vegas this week, the revised release schedule was revealed. Presentations will be unveiled by Paramount, Disney, Universal, Sony, Warner Bros., Universal, and Amazon MGM in an effort to promote the films that will be released in the coming year.

What Is Kendrick Lamar’s Untitled Movie About?

The cast, plot, and title of Kendrick Lamar’s film have not yet been disclosed. However, comedian Vernon Chatman wrote the live-action comedy, which centers on a young Black man who works as a slave reenactor intern in a living history museum.

Lamar, Stone, and Parker will also produce alongside Dave Free for pgLang.

Kendrick Lamar’s Hollywood Moment

The Comedy Central cartoon series South Park, which debuted in its 26th season in 2023 and inspired the 1999 motion picture South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, is credited to Stone and Parker. The two also co-wrote the Tony-winning Broadway musical The Book of Mormon and directed the 2004 film Team America: World Police.
