“Twinless” made its global premiere in the U.S. Dramatic Competition at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, winning the coveted Audience Award and receiving positive reviews from critics. The film, which was praised for its emotional depth and superb performances, starred Dylan O’Brien and James Sweeney. For portraying twin siblings, O’Brien attracted particular attention.

Twinless Moive Release Date

On September 5, the twisted comedy drama that debuted at the Sundance Film Festival will be released in theaters.

The movie will be distributed internationally by Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions and released in the United States by Roadside.

Plot

Two strangers, both grieving the loss of their twin siblings, meet in a twin bereavement support group and form an unexpected, emotional bond.

“Twinless” stars James Sweeney and Dylan O’Brien. O’Brien was honored for outstanding performance for his main dual role as twin brothers, and “Twinless” took home the audience prize at Sundance.

Director and Co-stars

Aisling Franciosi, Lauren Graham, Tasha Smith, Chris Perfetti, François Arnaud, Susan Park, and Cree Cicchino co-star in the film, which Sweeney wrote, directed, and produced.

Producer David explained that , “The sharp comedy depicts complex characters in such an irreverent, emotional and hysterical way.
