What inspired you to start this journey of travelling full-time and chronicling it on social media?
Travel has always been really important to me. Experiences and memories are the only things that last. Cash, all the material stuff — you can’t take it with you. So after I had a big change in my life, I decided it was time to travel full-time and build those experiences. I’ve really enjoyed getting to see unique places and meet amazing people.
What travelling have you done most recently?
My current trip has been a drive along the Australian coast in a motorhome. July actually marked one year since I first got here. I spent a month in Sydney, then took my motorhome north to Brisbane and onto Cairns. In December of last year I went back to Texas to spend time with family, then to Florida to do what was supposed to be a 140-day cruise that takes you all around the world. I got to see parts of South America and Antarctica which was amazing. By the time the cruise got to Sydney in March, however, they terminated the cruise and sent us home due to the virus. Fortunately that put me right back in Australia just as everything was shutting down, so I returned to Cairns and that’s where I’ve been since.
Do you have any quotes you live by?
“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.” – Mark Twain
