Nicki Minaj has a message for BET: Don’t disturb the Queen.
The 36-year-old musician declared she was hauling out of a prominent summer concert after the occasion’s sponsor, cable network BET, seemed to mock her amid Sunday night’s Grammy Awards telecast.
In a since-erased tweet, BET noticed that Cardi B—who’s fought with Minaj previously—had turned into the first lady to win Best Solo Rap Album. “Meanwhile,” the tweet reportedly added, “Nicki Minaj is being dragged by her lacefront.”
Minaj, who’s been named for 10 Grammys—yet never won—reacted by posting a screen capture of BET’s tweet on her Twitter feed, which has in excess of 20 million followers. In a follow-up tweet, she reported that neither she nor any of the acts on the popular Young Money name would show up at June’s BET Experience. Minaj and Young Money originator Lil Wayne, both major concert draws, were slated as headliners for the multi-day celebration.
A short time later, Minaj expressed gratitude toward fans for their help, including, “Stay tuned.”
Minaj’s last collection, 2018’s Queen, was as of late affirmed platinum by the Recording Institute of America, meaning deals and floods of more than one million, her fourth back to back collection to achieve that benchmark. As of Monday afternoon, her name still shows up on BET Experience’s official site, as does that of another co-headliner, one who—maybe unsurprisingly—is slated to perform on an alternate night: Cardi B.
