Fans of science fiction and horror will no longer have to wait as Alien: Romulus will launch on Hulu on November 21, 2024. This seventh film in the Alien franchise is expected to deliver spine-tingling suspense straight to fans’ screens in time for Thanksgiving, after a successful August theatrical release and a recent digital release.

Alien: Romulus, which was directed by Fede Álvarez, the man behind Evil Dead, carries on the tradition of the original Alien trilogy. The movie centres on a gang of adolescent colonists who awaken the dreadful face-hugging monsters for which the franchise is known as they are plundering an abandoned space station. Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu are among the cast members, who are led by actors Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson.

Alien: Romulus Box Office Success

Alien: Romulus made an incredible $350.8 million globally and $105.3 million domestically after its theatrical debut, making it the second highest-grossing movie in the franchise. Its popularity is a result of both Álvarez’s distinct style and the film’s compelling narrative, which critics hailed as “a good video-game horror ride” with powerful, eerie images. “The series’ primal show and awe is gone, but it’s a confidently spooky, ingeniously shot piece of entertainment,” Variety’s chief critic Owen Gleiberman explained.

Bonus Features and Pre-Orders Available

For fans who would rather have hard copies, Alien: Romulus will also be accessible for streaming on Hulu. On December 3, the Blu-ray and DVD versions will be available, along with extra features including interviews with Álvarez and Ridley Scott, the creator of the franchise. Viewers may anticipate more material, such expanded scenes and behind-the-scenes videos, which will deepen the story of the movie.

Drawing on his own experiences, Álvarez, who co-wrote the screenplay with frequent partner Rodo Sayagues, tackled Alien: Romulus from a new angle. “I can relate to the story of young people who feel stuck in a place,” he explained. The picture had a distinct edge over earlier Alien films because of its thematic origins in the fear of confinement and isolation, which brought a novel and terrifying element to the classic Alien formula.

Fans of Alien: Romulus have more to look forward to in the future. With the intention of getting Álvarez back to carry on the plot, 20th Century Studios recently announced that they are working on a sequel. “The two survivors, Rain and Andy, were real highlights, and we’re excited to see where their journey takes them next.” explained studio head Steve Asbell.

If you’re excited to see Alien: Romulus again or for the first time, be sure to note November 21 on your calendars for the film’s Hulu premiere.
