The following month’s AFI Awards will respect films including the “Avatar” sequel, “Top Gun: Maverick,” “Elvis” and popular television series like Better Call Saul, The White Lotus, and Abbott Elementary.
Prior to its gala luncheon on January 13 in Beverly Hills, California, the American Film Institute made the announcement of its honoree list on Friday.
For its ceremony, the institute selects ten films and shows that it thinks are among the best culturally and artistically of the year.
Additional film honorees include: “Everything Everywhere All at Once,”“The Fabelmans,”“Nope,”“She Said,”“Tár,”“The Woman King” and “Women Talking.”
The following are the other television shows being honored: “The Bear,” Hacks,” Mo,” “Pachinko,” “Reservation Dogs,” Severance” and “Somebody Somewhere.”
“The Banshees of Inisherin,” starring Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson as two men whose friendship breaks down, will receive a special award.
