Avatar: The Last Airbender is scheduled for release in 2025. In this crossover, the MTG universe is introduced to beloved characters, breathtaking artwork, and thrilling elemental combat. The first showing was held at MagicCon Chicago. Along with future Marvel and Final Fantasy expansions, this set is a part of MTG’s growing portfolio of collaborations. Instead of the live-action version, it is based on the well-liked Nickelodeon animated series.
Magic: The Gathering | Avatar: Release Date
The Final Airbender! On November 21, this Standard-legal collection, which is based solely on Nickelodeon’s original animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender, will be accessible.
The Last Airbender, which was unveiled at the MagicCon Chicago Preview Panel, will be released on November 21 to wrap up 2026’s sets. This will be the third Universes Beyond to be Standard-legal, which means that it may be played in Standard, Modern, Pioneer, and Legacy formats in addition to Vintage, Legacy, and Commander. Additionally, it indicates that the set will visit MTG Arena.
This collection will only contain content from the first Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series; it will not contain any content from the recently announced third series, Seven Havens, or the follow-up series, The Legend of Korra. Additionally, it won’t include any content from the awful M. Night Shyamalan film or the live-action Netflix series, which is probably for the best.
The original show does, however, include more than enough content to support a full release. Avatar, which is set in a war-torn planet where common people can manipulate (or “bend”) one of the four elements, was wildly successful in the 2000s due in large part to its strong anime and martial arts film influences.
Seeing how the four components of Avatar mesh with Magic’s five-color scheme will be intriguing. Black remains an unidentified element, although air, water, earth, and fire all neatly line up to white, blue, green, and red. Maybe it could concentrate on the world of spirits? or serve to highlight the more sinister aspects of the other elements, such as lightningbending and bloodbending?
The elemental bending cards in the Avatar: The Last Airbender set will be Standard legal, which means you can use them in a standard game with other vintage MTG cards. Although many of these cards were not initially promoted or made available as Standard legal decks, this is now also the case for all of the Universes Beyond sets. Because of this very recent update, MTG’s terrain now resembles Super Smash Bros. more than it ever has.
