On Friday night, the Grammy nominee played the band’s 1975 classic song, “Bohemian Rhapsody,” on the Main Stage for the opening night of Weekend 1, accompanied by guitarist Brian May and a huge choir.
At Coachella, Benson Boone performed a suitably dramatic rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody” with surprise Queen guest Brian May.
Benson Boone Debuts at Coachella Before His Second Album, “American Heart”
It was the 22-year-old Monroe, Washington-based singer-songwriter’s first time performing at the California event.
Boone wore an ermine-fur cloak at the end of his 11-song set, which was reminiscent of the iconic outfit worn by Queen frontman Freddie Mercury during his band’s 1986 farewell tour.
Following his announcement that his second studio album, American Heart, is tentatively scheduled for release in the spring or summer, Boone made his Coachella debut. He was nominated for a Grammy for Best New Artist after releasing his debut album, Fireworks & Rollerblades, in April of last year.

Coachella 2025 will feature performances by Missy Elliott, Charli XCX, Megan Thee Stallion, Zedd, Shaboozey, Ty Dolla Sign, Misfits, Prodigy, FKA Twigs, and Jimmy Eat World in addition to Lady Gaga, Green Day, and Post Malone as the main acts.
