The legendary actor and director of Unforgiven, Million Dollar Baby, and Bridges of Madison County, Clint Eastwood, is getting ready to make yet another film for Warner Bros, his longtime studio home.
The 92-year-old is currently casting Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette for the upcoming Warner Bros. legal drama Juror No. 2. After months of attempting to find the right combination of actors and weeks of talks with Hoult and Collette, official proposals to the actors went out Thursday.
Juror No. 2 will take place during a murder trial and will follow a juror, who will be played by Nicholas Hoult, as he comes to the realization that he might have caused the victim’s death. He must decide whether to save himself by manipulating the jury or to reveal the truth and surrender. Collette would play the examiner.
Eastwood will be 93 years old when filming begins, making him one of the oldest filmmakers still working. It is hoped that filming will begin in mid-June.
Cry Macho, a modern-day Western that came out in 2021, was Eastwood’s final film. The film, which Eastwood also starred in, was not well received. The actor-director, according to sources, wanted to complete one final project so he could ride off into the sunset with his head held high. He selected the script by Jonathan Abrams after finding it. Rewrites were made to add a supporting role and alter the ages of certain characters. Eastwood has been attempting to project the undertaking since before the end of last year with names like Charlize Theron in the permutations.
The film is being produced by Eastwood and Adam Goodman, a former Paramount production president turned producer who runs Dichotomy. Tim Moore, Matt Skiena, and Jessica Meier are likewise creating. Executive producers are The Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Jeremy Bell, who have been shepherding the script through Hollywood for the past 15 years.
After establishing a name for himself in front of the camera with roles in films like Dirty Harry and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, Eastwood began directing his own films and frequently acted in both leading and supporting roles. He has been nominated for multiple Oscars for best director for films like Letters from Iwo Jima and Mystic River. Additionally, he has won two Oscars for his work as a director for Unforgiven and Million Dollar Baby, which were also nominated for best picture at the Academy Awards. Nominations for best picture went to American Sniper, Mystic River, and Letters from Iwo Jima.
Hoult will next be seen in Universal’s Renfield, a horror comedy. Nosferatu, directed by Robert Eggers, will feature him alongside Willem Dafoe, Emma Corin, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. UTA represents him.
Collette will next appear in the fantasy drama series The Power on Amazon. She will also appear in the upcoming film Mickey 17, which also stars Robert Pattinson, Mark Ruffalo, and Steven Yeun. Warners will distribute the latter. CAA represents her.
