Disney unveiled a motion poster at D23 that featured the first glimpse of the live-action Lilo & Stitch film. In 2025, the movie will be presented in theatres throughout the summer.

“As Stitch, a runaway genetic experiment from a faraway planet, wreaks havoc on the Hawaiian Islands, he becomes the mischievous adopted alien “puppy” of an independent little girl named Lilo and learns about loyalty, friendship, and ʻohana, the Hawaiian tradition of family,” explained the synopsis for the original movie.

What to expect in the live-action Lilo & Stitch movie?

Oscar nominee Dean Fleischer Camp is directing the live-action Lilo & Stitch film, which he is directing from a screenplay by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright. In addition, Sydney Agudong as Nani, Kaipo Dudoit as David, Courtney B. Vance as Cobra Bubbles, Amy Hill as Tūtū, Tia Carrere as Mrs. Kekoa, Zach Galifianakis as Dr. Jumba’s voice, and Jason Scott Lee make up the ensemble cast. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich from Rideback produce the adaptation, with Ryan Halprin serving as executive producer.

Daveigh Chase, Sanders, Carrere, David Ogden Stiers, Kevin McDonald, Rhames, Kevin Michael Richardson, and Lee all had vocal roles in the original film. With a global box office gross of more than $270 million, it was a critical and financial success. Additionally, it was nominated for a Best Animated Feature Oscar.
