The official Dunki collections for India are now available. The movie opened with a strong start of Rs. 28 crores at the box office, which is impressive given that it’s a social drama with only sporadic humorous moments. In addition, the subject matter is not particularly universal on paper; rather, the film has appealed to a wider range of viewers due to the way Shah Rukh Khan portrayed the protagonist and Rajkumar Hirani told the story.
The kind of opening that Dunki has taken is actually pretty good, if not for some of the really big blockbusters that debuted this year and ended up breaking records for the biggest opening days ever. In fact, the Dunki first day collections rank among the best when compared to the other releases of the year.
Let’s examine the top ten 2023 openers:
Jawan: 75 crores rupees (including 9.50 crores from versions in the south)
Animal: 65 crores rupees (including 10 crores from versions in the south)
Rs. 57 crores for Pathaan (including 2 crores for the south version)
Gadar 2: 40.10 crores of rupees
Tiger 3: Rs. 44.50 crores (Southern versions contribute 1.50 crores)
Adipurush in Hindi: 36 crores of rupees
Dunki: 28 crores of rupees
Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan Kisi Ka Bhai – 15.81 crores
Rs. 15.73 crores is Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar’s value.
Bholaa: 11.20 crores of rupees
The six films that are ranked above Dunki all feature a lot of action, and the other films—Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar being the exception—are likewise action-packed productions. That continues to demonstrate how, through 2023, action has remained fundamentally in charge. Notwithstanding, the prolonged weekend collections would present an entirely distinct challenge, and Dunki is likely to surpass the cumulative score of numerous individuals in the ranking. All that remains to be seen is how the movie develops successfully until Monday, Christmas Day, when the workdays start.
