Every one of the seven members of BTS – the world’s greatest K-pop group – will join in the South Korean military for mandatory service, as per their agency.
The group had the option to postpone their military service after debate on whether the band members would be given a special exception for their contribution to South Korea’s international picture.
The oldest member Jin will be the first member to swap his microphone for a uniform soon after his 30th birthday celebration in December.
The excess six individuals, born between 1993 and 1996, will follow suit, with the K-pop group to reassemble in 2025.
“Group member Jin will initiate the process as soon as his schedule for his solo release is concluded at the end of October,” Big Hit, part of BTS’ agency HYBE, said on Monday.
“Other members of the group plan to carry out their military service based on their own individual plans.”
In South Korea, all able bodied men aged between 18 and 28 should finish around two years of service.
A 2019 update of the law had permitted globally perceived stars to defer their service until they turned 30.
Throughout the years some stars have been granted exemptions including Olympic medal winning athletes and prize-winning classical musicians and dancers.
Those excluded from service are let out of the military subsequent to serving just three weeks of basic training.
Notwithstanding, they should perform 544 hours of volunteer work and serve in their professional fields for 54 months in lieu of service.
The award winning group have sold in excess of 30 million albums worldwide and are most popular for upbeat hits like Dynamite and Butter.
In June BTS reported they were taking time off from the band to permit individuals to focus on their solo careers.
