Kinematics has unveiled the official Hippo trailer for their next dark comedy in black and white. The movie follows two step-siblings as they attempt to deal with adolescence in a religiously constrained environment.

When is the Hippo Release Date?

On November 12, 2024, Hippo is slated to open in a few theatres. With Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight) serving as the narrator, the picture stars Kimball Farley (Ghost Hunt) as Hippo, Lilla Kizlinger (Explanation for Everuir) as Buttercup, Eliza Roberts (National Lampoon’s Animal House) as Ethel, Jesse Pimentel (In the Moment) as Darwin, and Vann Barrett as Dr. Lombardi.

Mark H. Rapaport, who co-wrote the screenplay with Farley, is the film’s director. Producers Rapaport, Anthony Argento, and Siyu Lin are involved, along with executive producers David Gordon Green, Danny McBride, Jody Hill, Brandon James, Charmaine Kowalski, and Julian Lawitschka.

“The film examines the coming-of-age of two step-siblings: Hippo, a video-game addicted teenager and Buttercup, a Hungarian Catholic immigrant with a love of classical music and Jesus,” reads the synopsis. “Like the Ancient Greek Aphrodite, Buttercup’s love is unrequited by a brother who prefers to indulge the art of war and chaos. The result is a hormone-fueled, tragicomic waking nightmare that must be seen to be believed.”
