Japan OTT Release Date for Karthi’s Upcoming Tamil Film Announced

This month, the eagerly anticipated OTT release of Karthi’s most recent movie, Japan, is approaching. According to reports, the film’s distinctive storytelling style and intense action scenes made it a box office hit.

Filmed as an action comedy heist, Raju Murugan wrote and directed it. Nov. 10, 2023, was its theatrical debut. The movie is centered around the infamous burglar Japan Muni, who has gained notoriety for turning his heists into motion pictures. A game of cat and mouse is started between Japan and the government officials when 200 pounds worth of jewelry is stolen. Japan becomes the main suspect in the case.

Dec. 11, 2023 is when Japan will make its Netflix debut. Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam are the four languages in which it will be available. Alongside Sunil, Vijay Milton, Jithan Ramesh, and Karthi, Anu Emmanuel plays the key roles in the movie. Dream Warrior Pictures is the production company run by S. R. Prabhu and S. R. Prakash Babu.

To announce the movie’s release, Netflix recently went to X (formerly Twitter). The tweet read, “Think you’re ready for the upcoming thimingalam sikkuma sikkadha nu? On December 11, Netflix will launch #Japan in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.

“WANTED: @karthi_offl for stealing our hearts (and also some jewels along the way) #Japan, coming to Netflix in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada on 11 Dec!” was the caption Netflix India used when posting the news on Instagram.

Japan’s main photography season started in November 2022 and ended in late June 2023, with official announcements made in August 2022. The official title of the movie was unveiled that same month. The film features music composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, cinematography by Ravi Varman, and editing by Philomin Raj.

The main plot point of the movie is whether the jeweler actually stole the jewelry or if someone is using his reputation to frame him. Acclaimed for his comedic roles and timing, actor Karthi is recognized as one of the most versatile actors in Tamil cinema. Japan also signified his return to his comfort zone in cinema.

Netflix will release Japan on December 11, 2023.
