1. What first got you into music?
I would have to say what really got me into music is my ambition to become great one day. Back in my early high school years, all I wanted was to be heard. I wanted to put myself on a platform where I could truly express myself. I already had a good microphone and a good computer to begin with, so one day I decided to start writing down lyrics to type beats on YouTube. I wasn’t good or nothin’. I just fell in love with the feeling, and I decided this is what I want to keep up with and spend my time doing.
2. What is the best music advice you’ve been given?
The best advice relating to music that I think I’ve ever been given is probably from this one guy on SubmitHub who wrote a whole ass essay a couple months back to address my strengths and weaknesses. I feel as if reading his response really helped me grow as an artist.
3. How would you describe the music that you typically create?
I would best describe the music that I create as unique and entertaining. I can rap on tracks, I can be melodic on tracks, I can be creative on tracks. It all depends on the mood that I’m in for that day that I’m working. My music is just entertaining, but also very different from most artists. The new music I’m creating right now will be the best shit I’ve ever released so stay tuned.
4. What is the most useful talent you have?
The question said useless, but I really don’t know how to answer that because I believe that none of my talents are useless. On the other hand, my most useful talent has got to be my personality. My charisma. My braggadocio style of melody and lyrics. Something along those lines as these factors truly contribute to who I am as an artist and how much I differ from basically any other artist out there.
5. Who would you most like to collaborate with?
This is a tough question. It depends on what this refers to though. If it’s referring to a famous artist, I would have to pick Travis Scott. I’m just a big fan of his music. The collab would be insane. If this question is referring to who I would like to work with the most, it would have to be with my boy from back home, KUB™. Though we didn’t grow up together, we’ve been around each other long enough for me to say he’s family. I feel as if our styles mix really well on songs.
6. Which famous musicians do you admire?
I have a respect for almost all musicians, but I’m gonna have to go with Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Travis Scott, and Lil Uzi Vert.
7. If you could open a show for any artist who would it be?
Hands-down, I would definitely want to open for Travis Scott. Travis Scott performances are insane. I feel as if our creativity and personalities would blend perfectly.
8. Do you sing in the shower? What songs?
All the time. It all depends on how I’m feelin’. I mostly just sing some shit off my playlist or my own songs though, or I be practicing for the next time I’m gonna record something if I have an idea in my head.
9. What is one message you would like to give to your fans?
I got more music being released soon. I am going to put my all into the quality of this music. I can’t wait for you guys to hear it because y’all will be amazed. And I’m not stopping anytime soon, it’s all up from here. Thank y’all for supporting me throughout my journey, can’t wait to see what my future has in store.
10. What’s next for you?
I want to start focusing more on the production quality of my music, and start focusing on building relationships with my fans and other artists. The new music I will be releasing soon is going to be the best shit I’ve released in a while. Stay tuned for that. For any upcoming artists out there reading this article that are looking to collab and work together to gain exposure, I just would like to say y’all can hit me on Instagram @joeblackthemonster and we can get something cookin’. I have big plans for the future, this article is just one more step in the right direction.
