The Joker: Folie à Deux Max streaming release date has been formally announced by HBO, indicating the anticipated arrival of the 2019 Joker sequel on its platform.

When is the Joker: Folie à Deux Max streaming Release Date?

Joker: Folie à Deux will be available for streaming to anybody with a subscription on Max on December 13, 2024. HBO will make the official premiere of the Joaquin Phoenix-led sequel a day later at 8:00 p.m. ET.

Phoenix, Lady Gaga, Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Zazie Beetz, Steve Coogan, Harry Lawtey, and Leigh Gill are also featured in Joker: Folie à Deux. Todd Phillips, who helmed 2019’s Joker, is the film’s director. Prior to it, Phillips directed mostly comedic films, such as Old School (2003), Starsky & Hutch (2004), The Hangover (2009), and numerous others.

In October 2019, the first Joker film came out. Despite an estimated budget of $55 million, it brought in over $1.079 billion at the global box office, making Warner Bros. Pictures a huge success. It received multiple Academy Award nominations, with Hildur Guðnadóttir taking home Best Original Score and Phoenix taking home Best Actor.

The original plan for Joker was to be a stand-alone movie. But in June 2022, Phillips declared that a sequel was formally in the works. James Gunn and Peter Safran’s upcoming DC Universe, which has officially begun with the animated Creature Commandos series, is situated in a separate continuity than Joker: Folie à Deux.

Phillips and Scott Silver, who both authored the original Joker movie, co-wrote the screenplay for Joker 2.
