There were a few historic successes for K-pop at the MTV Video Music Awards today! Be it breaking records or setting new ones, K-pop truly became the center stage. From BTS to Blackpink, here are the K-pop artists who dominated the award show.
Once more packing the ‘Group of the Year,’ BTS broke the record for most consecutive successes in this category as this is their fourth year winning. They were nominated close by BLACKPINK, City Girls, Imagine Dragons, Silk Sonic, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Måneskin.

Ariana Grande x Fortnite and Twenty One Pilots’ Concert Experience x Roblox, BLACKPINK set a new record by winning the ‘Best Metaverse Performance.’ Winning for the collaboration with PUBG, Blackpink X PUBG MOBILE IN-GAME CONCERT: [THE VIRTUAL], the K-pop girl group are the first winners in this category.
SEVENTEEN – Push Performance of the Year
Winning ‘Push Performance of the Year’ for their December 2021 release Rock with you, K-pop boy group SEVENTEEN additionally made history! Named alongside Griff’s One Night, Remi Wolf’s Sexy Villain, Nessa Barrett’s i hope ur miserable until ur dead, Mae Muller’s Better Days, GAYLE’s abcdefu, Sheneesa’s R U That, Omar Apollo’s Tamagotchi, Wet Leg’s Chaise Longue, Muni Long’s Baby Boo and Doechii’s Persuasive, the boy group became the first K-pop artist to win this category. In spite of the fact that they couldn’t go to the event, the members said thanks to their fans through a video.
Blackpink’s Lisa – Best K-pop
The Blackpink member took a historic success at the VMAs! Bringing back home the award for ‘Best K-Pop’ with her solo LALISA, she is the first soloist to win this category. Lisa’s performance debut had been nominated close by SEVENTEEN’s HOT, BTS’ Yet To Come (The Most Beautiful Moment), ITZY’s LOCO, Stray Kids’ MANIAC and TWICE’s The Feels
