Nine hours ago, the much awaited movie had already made over ₹3.6 crores from 2,298 showings. Advance sales from 872 shows in Chennai alone have hit ₹1.77 million. Kalki 2898 AD Premise

The world changes drastically in the year 2898 AD, and the final bastion of humanity is the deserted city of Kasi. Kasi is a dystopian society ruled by an elite totalitarian group under the strict authority of Supreme Yaskin, the god-king, who rules from the “Complex,” a massive inverted pyramid-shaped megastructure. The film skillfully crafts a story that spans millennia by fusing futuristic dystopian settings with ancient Indian Hindu mythology. The plot revolves around the mysterious appearance of Kalki, the tenth and final avatar of the Hindu deity Vishnu, and takes place from the ancient period of the Mahabharata in 3102 BC, which marked the beginning of Kali Yuga, until the far future of 2898 AD.

The film stars Prabhas as the seasoned bounty hunter Bhairava, and it has a brilliant and varied ensemble. As Ashwatthama, Amitabh Bachchan plays the part, and Kamal Haasan plays the Supreme Yaskin. Disha Patani plays Roxie, and Deepika Padukone makes an appearance as SUM-80. Rajendra Prasad, Saswata Chatterjee as Commander Manas, Brahmanandam as Rajan (Bhairava’s landlord), and Pasupathy as Shambhala rebel Veeran are among the supporting cast members.
