A wide theatrical release of the eagerly awaited film musical “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” which stars Jennifer Lopez, Diego Luna, and Tonatiuh, has been announced for this fall.
Movie Release Date
The Jennifer Lopez-led film will be released this fall by Roadside Attractions, Lionsgate, and LD Entertainment. It is scheduled to open in cinemas across the United States on October 10. At the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, the film had its international premiere.
Written and Directed
The Tony-winning Broadway musical of the same name was adapted into a movie called Kiss of the Spider Woman. Bill Condon, whose past musical achievements include Dreamgirls and Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast remake, is both its writer and director.
Stroyline
The narrative examines the complicated bond between two individuals who are imprisoned together in a Latin American facility for quite different causes. Molina, a window dresser guilty of public indecency, is housed in the same cell as Valentín, a political prisoner. As Molina relates the story of a Hollywood musical featuring his favorite movie star, Ingrid Luna, the two develop an odd friendship.
Cast
Jennifer Lopez, Diego Luna, Tonatiuh, Bruno Bichir, Josefina Scaglione, and Aline Mayagoitia are among the movie’s cast members.
Revisiting the 1993 Broadway Sensation That Swept the Tony Awards
The original Broadway production had its Broadway debut in 1993 and went on to win seven Tony Awards, including Best Original Score, Best Book of a Musical, and Best Musical. Some of the performers, like Chita Rivera, also won accolades.
Fred Ebb wrote the lyrics, John Kander wrote the music, and Terrence McNally wrote the book for the show.
