The Blumhouse, Atomic Monster, and Divide/Conquer sequel M3GAN 2.0, starring Timm Sharp, Aristotle Athari, and Jemaine Clement, is now in development and slated for a June 27, 2025, theatrical release.

Reuniting from the original $181 million worldwide box office hit from 2023 are Jen Van Epps as Tess and Brian Jordan Alvarez as Cole.

As we previously reported, screenwriter Akela Cooper, who authored the original movie, is rewriting the script for Gerard Johnstone, who is taking over as director.

Ivanna Sakhno will also star in the sequel, which recently announced Allison Williams, Violet McGraw, and Jenna Davis’ return.

Producers of M3GAN 2.0 are Williams, James Wan, and Jason Blum. Under Wan’s Atomic Monster imprint, Michael Clear and Judson Scott will EP. Ryan Turek of Blumhouse is also on EP with Mark Katchur. Divide/Conquer’s Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath are also EPs.

Sharp’s acting career began with Judd Apatow’s Undeclared on FOX. Since then, Sharp has acted in more than 40 TV series and numerous films, such as Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Apples Never Fall: Based on a True Story, Enlightened, ’til Death, Blunt Talk, Drunk History, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Representative for the actor is Odenkirk Provissiero Entertainment.

From 2021 until 2022, Athari was a cast member of Saturday Night Live. He starred in Silicon Valley on HBO as well. He recently acted in two independent comedies, The French Italian (starring Chloe Cherry and Cat Cohen) and Molli and Max in the Future (starring Zosia Mamet), which debuted at SXSW and Tribeca this year. He, Hasan Minhaj, and Asif Ali founded the comedic group “Goatface.” Fahim Anwar also joined the group. Along with the ensemble, Athari co-wrote, directed, and featured in a Comedy Central comedy special. At the moment, Season 3 of Max’s Hacks features him. Stride Management and CAA are Athari’s representatives.

The humorous folk band Flight of the Conchords, who went on to create their own HBO series, is the reason Clement is most well-known. He most recently starred in Avatar: The Way of Water, and Harold & the Purple Crayon from Sony is his next film to be watched. He is the creator and executive producer of the comedy programmes What We Do In The Shadows (FX/Hulu) and Wellington Paranormal (CW/HBO Max). Based on Terry Gilliam’s 1981 film, Time Bandits is a planned AppleTV+ series that he is currently scripting and executive producing. Yorn Levine and UTA represent Clement.

Next up for Van Epps is a recurring part in Time Bandits, opposite Lisa Kudrow. She had a previous role in the Amazon film Don’t Make Me Go as “Nicole,” the character played by John Cho’s ex-wife. The Netflix series Cowboy Bebop, the Amazon series The Wilds, the Hulu feature No Exit, and the Apple TV+ series Mr. Corman are among the additional credits. Van Epps is represented by Ziffren Brittenham, Echo Lake Entertainment, Navigation Media Group, and Gail Cowan Management of New Zealand.

Nelson Davis, Key Creatives, and CAA are Johnstone’s representatives.
