Because its release date has been rescheduled several times, the Ajay Devgn film Maidaan has continued to garner attention. The sports drama, which is expected to make its theatrical debut this Eid, was recently shown in Mumbai to members of the trade and business community. Rarely, seven weeks before Maidaan’s release, producer Boney Kapoor hosted a special screening of the film.
According to a report, a number of people attended the Maidaan screening at Mumbai’s Lightbox Preview Theatre, including filmmaker Rajiv Rai, producer George Cameron, Ajay Devgn Films CEO Meena Iyer, producer N R Pachisia, distributor Tutu Sharma, Rakesh Ramesh Sippy of Raksha Entertainment, and producers Narendra and Shreyansh Hirawat of NH Studioz.
Rajesh Vasani showered Maidaan with praise after the show, saying that Ajay Devgn’s performance will definitely win him a National Award. “It takes a lot of confidence to screen a movie seven weeks before its official release. Movies typically start with a build-up. Maidaan is an anomaly, though. It takes off right from the beginning. Nobody will likely blink during the big moment. What a waste of time the last twenty to twenty-five minutes are!” According to Rajesh Vasani, Bollywood Hungama.
“Madh Island was the location of the match scenes,” he went on. Due to cyclones, monsoons, pandemics, etc., the set was dismantled and destroyed three times. However, the visual effects are seen to be believed. It will seem to viewers as though Australia was used to film the match sequences. The use of VFX won’t be obvious to anyone. The sound design by AR Rahman amplifies the effect.”
Maidaan, which is directed by Badhaai Ho (2018)’s Amit Ravindernath Sharma, features Priyamani and Gajraj Rao in supporting roles. As Syed Abdul Rahim, Ajay will be playing an essay.
