The new action movie Protector, directed by Adrian Grünberg from Rambo: Last Blood, will star Milla Jovovich, who starred in Resident Evil. Bong-Seeb Mun wrote the screenplay.

The Resident Evil live-action film series is Jovovich’s most well-known role. She made her debut as Alice in the 2002 picture. She later returned to the role in Apocalypse (2004), Extinction (2007), Afterlife (2010), Retribution (2012), and The Final Chapter (2016), among other Resident Evil films.

What is Protector About?

Jovovich, who portrayed Alice in the six suspenseful Resident Evil films, is back in an action thriller, this time playing a mother who is trying to protect her daughter from abductors. Highland Film is pitching Protector, which the publication called a “Taken-esque action thriller,” to buyers at this year’s American Film Market.

In Protector, Jovovich will portray Nikki, “a former war hero who believed she had left her violent past behind to raise her daughter, Chloe, in peace. When she wakes up in an abandoned factory and learns that Chloe has been kidnapped, Nikki has to navigate the city’s criminal underworld, pursued by both the cops and the military, to get her daughter back.”

Production on Protector is scheduled to begin this winter in New Mexico.

Jovovich’s acting credits include a few action films, such as Kuffs, The Fifth Element, The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc, Ultraviolet, The Three Musketeers, The Rookies, and Monster Hunter, in addition to the Resident Evil film series.

The actress will next be seen in Paul W.S. Anderson’s Resident Evil flick In the Lost Lands and World Breaker, where she co-stars with Luke Evans. A Perfect Getaway, Lucky Trouble, Hellboy, Chaplin, Dazed and Confused, The Million Dollar Hotel, Zoolander, Two Moon Junction, Return to the Blue Lagoon, and Breathe are among Jovovich’s other credits.
