A brand-new Moana 2 video for the eagerly awaited animated follow-up to the critically acclaimed 2016 film has been published by Walt Disney Animation. As of right now, November 27, 2024 is when it is slated to open in theatres.
“The film reunites Moana and Maui three years later for an expansive new voyage alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers,” reads the official synopsis. “After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.”
What Happens in the New Moana 2 Video?
The newest antagonist in the sequel, Matangi, who is being voiced by Awhimai Fraser, is hinted to in the video. She seeks to thwart the ambitions of the title character to reunite the ocean’s inhabitants. Fraser had previously provided the voices of Elsa and Dolores Madrigal for the Māori dubs of Frozen and Encanto, respectively, before joining the cast of Moana 2.
The voices of Auliʻi Cravalho as Moana, Dwayne Johnson as Maui, Temuera Morrison as Tui, Nicole Scherzinger as Sina, Rose Matafeo as Loto, David Fane as Kele, Rachel House as Tala, Alan Tudyk as Heihei, and others will appear in Moana 2, which is directed and written by David G. Derrick Jr. John Musker and Ron Clements directed the first one. With a gross of nearly $600 million, it was not only a financial triumph but also received favourable reviews from critics and was nominated for two Oscars, including Best Original Song and Best Animated Feature.
