Netflix to Release Vikram’s Thangalaan: Confirmed OTT Release Date

In honour of Independence Day, the 2024 Tamil film Thangalaan, which had Vikram in the lead role, opened in theatres in August.

The 2024 Tamil film Thangalaan marked the first time director Pa Ranjith and star Vikram worked together. August 15 marked the release of the period-action drama in theatres. Gnanavel Raja is supporting the movie under the Studio Green label. Even though the movie came out two months ago, Thangalaan hasn’t made its OTT premiere yet. Netflix has acquired the movie’s streaming rights.

However, Gnanavel Raja revealed that Thangalaan will be available on Netflix for Diwali during a recent X space.

Daniel Caltagirone, Pasupathi, Malavika Mohanan, Parvathy Thiruvothu, and numerous more are also featured in the movie. With the Kolar Gold Field as its historical backdrop, Thangalaan depicts the real-life struggles of oppressed people from earlier centuries and their struggle for justice while being used by colonisers to search for gold in the area.

The film’s technical team includes GV Prakash Kumar for music and Kishore Kumar for photography. The editor is RK Selva. When the movie was released, it was well received and did well at the box office.
