Professional basketball player Roman Perez has an upcoming film on his life and basketball journey. The film is based on his story, a kid from the Dominican Republic who at a young age grew up in Brooklyn, New York and never gave up on his dreams.
His dreams and goals growing up was to become a respected basketball player in his community of Williamsburg in Brooklyn. Talking about respect was something Roman never saw in his early years, but with time his mission was to prove his doubters wrong one day. Not making his school teams from 6-12 grade to even his first year in college in Utah, only fueled Roman to continue to fight for his dreams knowing that with discipline and hard work he would accomplish a lot in life.
As the years passed, he finally started to train at a late of 16 years and saw results in himself but the road still was not easy. Chasing your dream and having no support from your community can be rough, and it was a harsh obstacle Roman would eventually overcome. A late bloomer we call him, he took the hard route which was working on his own in the parks and working for hours to catch up to the talent of his peers. From the street leagues to consistent determination to improve he made his first college team at the age of 22 years. Playing 2 years and still working hard, he finally made the leap of playing professionally.
To this date he’s played in many parts of the world, and inspiring others while at it. He is a current member of the world-famous Court Kingz basketball team. Off the court he’s the founder of the Dudo Baez foundation, which impacts inner city adults and youth with camps, clinics, and tournaments.
I am Victorious is the story of Roman Perez and how he gained victory in his journey. It teaches us that in order to win, we must learn how to lose first. The documentary releases in late 2021 on online platforms. Stay tuned for the film, and fasten your seat belts for an amazing triller.
