Rosemund Pike and Sacha Baron Cohen have been cast in the comedy film Ladies First, which was released on Netflix.

Thea Sharrock, who helmed the films Me Before You (2016), The One and Only Ivan (2020), Wicked Little Letters (2023), and The Beautiful Game (2024), will be directing Ladies First.

According to Deadline, Éléonore Pourriat’s 2018 French film Je Ne Suis Pas Un Homme Facile—which translates to “I Am Not an Easy Man” in English—is largely responsible for the inspiration for Ladies First.

“Baron Cohen will play an unrepentant womanizing chauvinist who finds himself in a parallel world dominated by women,” Deadline’s description of Ladies First reads. “A fiery female counterpart (Pike) makes things even more complicated.”

Katie Silberman and Natalie Krinsky wrote the script for Ladies First. Along with Eleonore Dailly, Edouard de Lachomette, and Four By Two Films, Liza Chasin produces the movie for 3dot.

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby from 2006, Hugo from 2011, Les Misérables from 2012, Alice Through the Looking Glass from 2016 and The Trial of the Chicago 7 from 2020 are just a few of the films he has starred in. In addition to being cast in Marvel Studios’ Ironheart, he will soon be featured in Alfonso Cuarón’s Apple TV+ series Disclaimer as Robert Ravenscroft.

In contrast, Pike has acted in films that include Pride & Prejudice from 2005, Jack Reacher from 2012, The World’s End from 2013, Gone Girl from 2014, Hostiles from 2017; A Private War from 2018; I Care a Lot from 2020; and Saltburn from 2023. She also portrays Moiraine Damodred in The Wheel of Time. She is starring in two upcoming Guy Ritchie films: 2025’s Now You See Me 3 and In the Grey, which opens in January 2025.
