Sabrina Carpenter and Paul Simon opened Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary special with a heartfelt duet of Homeward Bound. Lady Gaga, Robyn, Andy Samberg, and David Byrne performed live at Radio City Music Hall for NBC’s SNL50: The Homecoming Concert on February 14.

Following the concert, Lorne Michaels and company presented SNL50: The Anniversary Special, a three-hour live production that included musical numbers, monologues, and fresh interpretations of vintage skits, all of which featured special guests from the illustrious comedy show’s past.

Paul Simon and Sabrina Carpenter performed a duet of the Simon & Garfunkel song “Homeward Bound” on the Studio 8H stage to start SNL 50.

Among the many people that appeared on the three-hour primetime show were members of the Five-Timers Club Simon, Tom Hanks, Steve Martin, Scarlett Johansson, Martin Short, and Woody Harrelson. Carpenter, Pascal, Bad Bunny, Cyrus, McCartney, Adam Driver, Ayo Edebiri, Dave Chappelle, John Mulaney, Kim Kardashian, Peyton Manning, Quinta Brunson, and Robert De Niro were among the other famous attendees.

Chevy Chase, Jane Curtin, Garrett Morris, Laraine Newman, Fred Armisen, Pete Davidson, Jimmy Fallon, Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Will Forte, Kate McKinnon, Seth Meyers, Tracy Morgan, Eddie Murphy, Amy Poehler, Chris Rock, Maya Rudolph, Andy Samberg, Adam Sandler, Molly Shannon, Jason Sudeikis, Kristen Wiig, and Kenan Thompson, the longest-running performer in the history of Saturday Night Live, were among the two dozen former and current cast members scheduled to appear on the special.

Along with leading a Broadway revue of New York City across the decades, John Mulaney had an excellent guest list that included Pete Davidson and David Spade. Returning as the notorious Diner Lobster are Maya Rudolph, Adam Driver, Nathan Lane, Will Forte, Jason Sudeikis, Kate McKinnon, Lin Manuel-Miranda, Scarlett Johansson, Nick Jonas, and Keenan Thompson.

Jelly Roll, Coldplay, Stevie Nicks, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, Mk.gee, Charli XCX, Shaboozey, Gracie Abrams, Glorilla, and Timothée Chalamet have all performed on Saturday Night Live’s 50th season since it premiered in September.

With Questlove and the Roots serving as his backing band, Lil Wayne made an appearance at 30 Rock as the evening was coming to an end. He performed a medley of his classics, which included “Uproar,” “Lollipop,” “6 Foot 7 Foot,” “Mrs. Officer,” and “A Milli.” Paul McCartney played “Golden Slumbers / Carry That Weight / The End” from The Beatles’ 1969 album Abbey Road to end the performance.
