Pat Cummins’ participation in the forthcoming Champions Trophy is “very unlikely,” according to Australian head coach Andrew McDonald. Andrew McDonald, the coach of the Australian cricket team, disclosed that Travis Head is another possibility.
Cummins and Hazlewood might not make it to the 2025 Champions Trophy
Due to an ankle injury and the birth of his second kid, Cummins has been sidelined for Australia’s current two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. In the first Test match in Galle, Smith took charge and guided Australia to a commanding victory by 242 runs and an innings.
McDonald explained,“But as I said, Patty is hugely unlikely, which is a bit of a shame. We also have Josh Hazlewood, who is still recovering. The medical updates will come in the next couple of days, and we’ll finalize everything,”
The Australian team for the 2025 Champions Trophy
Hazlewood and Cummins are both part of Australia’s 2025 Champions Trophy team. Nonetheless, squads may be modified until February 12 in accordance with the regulations.
Pacer Nathan Ellis is included in the squad, and Matt Short and Aaron Hardie receive their first-ever ICC event call-ups. These three take the position of Sean Abbott, Cameron Green, who was sidelined following back surgery, and David Warner, who retired.
