The 2023 flagship Sony smartphone, the Xperia 1 V, was released in May of last year. With its “Exmor T for mobile” sensor, the phone performed twice as well in low light as its predecessor, according to the manufacturer. Running on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SOC, it was a flagship phone from the previous year.
The Sony Xperia 1 VI is scheduled to launch in the upcoming months. Although Sony has not yet made any announcements, “we can now view renders of the phone, providing us with our first glimpse at its design.” Android Headlines released the rendered images.
The phone features a triple camera setup on the back, positioned in the upper left corner, according to the renders, which show a familiar design language. The text “ZEISS T*” is present on the camera module. The design of the camera module is the same as it was on the phone from last year, and rumors have it that Sony is sticking with the same configuration for the camera this year. The selfie camera is located in the top bezel on the front rather than in a notch or hole punch.
The power button contains an embedded fingerprint sensor, and the camera shutter button is located on the right. Additionally, the phone’s 3.5mm headphone jack is still present.
The phone is shorter than it was a year ago, which may not be apparent from the renders. Similar to previous year, the display measures 6.5 inches. However, despite having the same screen size, the phone is nearly 3mm shorter than the Xperia 1 V at 161.9 x 74.5 x 8.4 mm.
This indicates that the phone is no longer equipped with the 21:9 display that Sony has been using on their phones lately. Rather, the phone has a display that is comparable to other smartphones on the market, with an aspect ratio of about 19.5:9. The phone is nearly 3.5 mm wider than its predecessor.
Because some Sony fans adore the tall aspect ratio of Sony smartphones, which is ideal for media consumption, there will be mixed reactions to this change.
The display resolution has also reportedly changed, according to some sources. The Sony Xperia 1 VI is to sport a 2K or Quad-HD+ panel, in contrast to earlier Sony flagships that featured a 4K display.
The specifications are currently unknown, but information on them ought to become available shortly.
