Southward-Facing Kia’s Size Quadrupled when it Moved from the Regency Neighborhood to East Arlington

Southside Kia, which is relocating from the Regency area and quadrupling in size, is joining the dealership corridor in East Arlington.

The city approved site clearing in December, and on February 16 Morgan Construction Management Services LLC of Tampa was granted two permits to construct a dealership and car wash-detailing building for Southside Kia, at a total project cost of $12.5 million.

On 6.56 acres at 11750 Abess Blvd., the project consists of a two-story, 61,030-square-foot sales and service facility dealership and a 3,650-square-foot car wash and detailing building.

Located at Northwest Kernan and Atlantic Boulevards, the site is part of the Atlantic North development.

The building fronts both Atlantic Boulevard and Abess Boulevard to the north.

After circling south to meet Atlantic Boulevard, Abess Boulevard runs west from Kernan Boulevard.

Holiday-oriented On August 10, the city received civil engineering plans from Spring Engineering Inc.

The owner of the property is Sleiman Enterprises, based in Jacksonville. The land will be leased to Jacksonville SS Automotive Management LLC, which is headed by Larry C. Morgan, Chairman of the Morgan Automotive Group.

On the plans, Morgan Auto Group is identified as the developer.

The new Southside Kia location is approximately 3.5 miles east along the dealership corridor from Regency Square Mall at Monument Road to Kernan Boulevard. It is located west of the Cinemark Jacksonville Atlantic North.

Southside Kia, which is currently located at 9401 Atlantic Blvd., across from Regency Park Shopping Center and close to Regency Square Mall, is owned by the Tampa-based Morgan Automotive Group.

SS Automotive currently owns the 3.43-acre Southside Kia site at 9401 Atlantic Blvd. through Morgan Automotive.

According to property records, the property consists of a 6,612-square-foot service garage and an 8,690-square-foot sales showroom that were constructed in 1982. In 2021, a car wash at the dealership was added.

In 2017, SS Automotive purchased the property from South Carolina-based JBM Leasing LLC. Before Coggin Kia and Southside Kia, the location was Coggin Honda in the middle of the 1980s.

The new address of Coggin Honda Jacksonville is 11003 Atlantic Blvd. In 2001, that dealership was constructed.
