Being an entrepreneur is not for the faint hearted, over 20% of new businesses fail and the figures ascend considerably as the years progress. We spoke to www.curatorsocial.com CEO Kris Lal and got some sound advice for entrepreneurs taking the leap towards running their own business.
What advice do you have for new entrepreneurs?
Easily the best advice I can give is to do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life. Its so important to have a passion for what you’re doing, this will be your fuel when things get tough, your driver when trade is down and motivation when you’re feeling like giving up. I speak to entrepreneurs daily, one of the key differences between those that have worked through the tough times and those that haven’t, is the fact that the ones that have absolutely love what they do. If your a creative, make sure you have an offering that allows you to do Secondly, remember to be the expert at what you do, and leave the rest to the best. I find people who are great in their fields for things that I have no affinity or skill for. This allows you to be a driving force in your business and team, give your energy to things that it benefits from.
What are some challenges Curatorsocial has overcome during its first three years in business?
The current pandemic has hit some of our clients really hard and we’ve had to navigate and restructure our offering as a result. Seeing people lose and have their livelihoods compromised has been really difficult for the team as our clients are like family to us. Some key things we’re doing to assist is consolidate our services, offering new packages, and implementing new strategy for clients. The key thing in any business is adjusting your model and being flexible throughout. Having this mindset has helped us ride a few storms and come out all the better for it.
