Twisters is the 8th Highest-grossing Movie of 2024, Surpassing Even Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes

Despite some enormous obstacles, Twisters is proving to be a formidable force at the domestic box office. Despite some new competition from Marvel heavyweights Deadpool and Wolverine, the standalone follow-up to the 1996 smash hit managed to hold its own at the box office.

Tiwsters achieved a significant victory on Thursday, August 1, surpassing the total earnings of Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes for their whole statewide run. A scant twelve days after Twisters debuted in theatres on July 19, 2024, the film reached this milestone.

The Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar Jones storm-chasing sequel has already easily surpassed a number of significant box office benchmarks. Twisters took the top spot at the domestic box office on July 19, ending the dominance of two summer blockbusters, Despicable Me 4 and Inside Out 2, as it swept into theatres on July 19.

But after nearly a week at the top, it was moved to the back row on July 26, 2024, the day when the most eagerly awaited movie of 2024, Deadpool and Wolverine, arrived.

On July 28, Twisters stormed past a huge domestic box office milestone, earning $154 million, despite some fierce competition.

The movie, which had a $150 million production budget, made an additional $19 million in five days after breaking the $150 million milestone. With a current domestic cume of 172.9 million, Twisters has overtaken the whole 170.9 million U.S. run of The Planet of the Apes to become the tenth highest-grossing film of 2024 at the box office.
