The global sales of Universal/Warner Bros/Amblin’s “Twisters” have surpassed domestic projections, totalling $123.2 million. While the worldwide box office figures are in line with projections, the film’s performance was significantly enhanced in the home market. Warner oversees global distribution and brings in $27.1 million from 76 markets this session; Universal has domestic rights. This came after an early release in 38 nations last week. There has been a 30% reduction worldwide, totalling $42.7 million in offshore assets.
Colombia (+8%), Argentina (+1%), Mexico (-22%), Peru (-23%), and Brazil (-31%) all performed consistently across Latin America. Australia had a 21% decline. Japan and Korea still need to distribute the film.
“Despicable Me 4” from Illumination/Universal has now made over $500 million globally and is getting close to $600 million. The film’s overseas total decreased by 42% to $52 million from 79 markets, making it $315 million internationally and $574.4 million globally. The biggest opening of the year was the $4.4 million studio opening in Japan. The UK came in first place with a donation of $7.1M; China’s total contribution is $31.5M.
“Despicable Me 4” is the third-biggest film of the year in Mexico, surpassing the lifetime gross of “Frozen II” and “Ice Age 3.” The top five markets are Mexico ($32.1M), China ($31.5M), Australia ($25.8M), the UK ($23.2M), and Brazil ($18.3M).
With a worldwide total of $1,443.3M and an international total of $846.9M, Disney/Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” brought in $34.2M over its sixth weekend, making it the 15th highest grossing movie ever. It is expected to surpass “Frozen II” in terms of earnings among animated movies.
Sony’s “Padre No Hay Mas Que Uno 4” led the Spanish box office in its first five days with $3.7M. After receiving $8.5 million from Imax, the Chinese comedy “Successor” made $213 million in its first weekend of sales.
